Elite Dangerous's BGS (background game simulation) gameplay and PMF (player-driven minor factions) are very deep game mechanics whose predate Power Play and those're backbone of most of game 'event' based progress in daily ticks on economy and politics, yet this ain't obviously visible on first sight.
